The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter is committed to placing our animals in safe, loving homes. To help make the best match possible, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire, speak with one of our adoption counselors and meet with the pet you are interested in. Small children and current pets may be asked to meet with the animal before sending him home to help make the best match possible.
Your adoption counselor or our office staff will discuss with you any special needs or circumstances that apply to the pet you may be interested in adopting.
All cats and dogs adopted from our shelter are spayed or neutered prior to finalizing an adoption. According to the surgical status of the animal, we ask that adopters are prepared to complete the questionnaire, meet with a counselor and pick up your new family member within 48 hours or less.
- Puppies 6 months & under = $300-$400
- Toy Breeds (under 25 pounds) Over 6 Months Old= $250
- Non-Toy Breeds Over 6 Months Old= $150
Each dog is vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested, spayed or neutered, given a rabies shot, microchipped and assigned an ID tag before going to it’s new home.
Puppy adoptions fees are higher due to increased number of vaccines given and extra supplies necessary to care for them while in our care.
A buckle or snap collar (no chokers) and leash MUST be used when picking up your adopted animal – you will need to supply one or purchase one at the time of pick-up from the shelter.
- Kittens Under 6 months Old = $110
- Petsmart Adoptions = Standard Fee +$30 (see info below)
- Cats Over 6 Months Old = $75
- Senior Cats 7 Years & Over = $50
- CIA Agent Cats = $50
Every cat or kitten is vaccinated, de-wormed, treated for fleas & ticks, spayed or neutered, given a rabies shot if old enough, microchipped and assigned an ID tag before being adopted.
If you wish to have your new cat combo tested for leukemia/Aids prior to adoption please discuss this option (and the additional fee) with your adoption counselor.
Cats adopted from Petsmart have a standard adoption fee as listed above, but will have an additional $30 added to their fee for a combo (FeLuk/FIV) test as well. They must be tested to be housed at Petsmart, so the testing fee is not optional for these cats.
A cat safety collar must be provided by you at the time of adoption, or you may purchase one from the shelter at the time you pick up your new pet. A carrier to transport the animal home in must also be provided by the adopter at the time of adoption – we cannot provide one for you.
- Extended Stay Dogs (dogs in the shelter longer than 90 days) = $50
- Extended Stay Cats (cats in the shelter longer than 90 days) = $50

More Adoptable Animals
The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter is not just about dogs and cats!
We often have barnyard buddies such as chickens or goats available for adoption. You may also find small and furry pets, such as guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, or ferrets seeking homes, as well as the occasional reptile or bird. These pets will be listed on our website and you can ask our staff to meet them when you come to visit.
