Seeking a dedicated and responsible individual with basic knowledge/familiarity with animals. Must be able to handle heavy and fast paced work load, and must be able to work well & communicate effectively with the public, fellow employees & volunteers

Job includes properly maintaining kennels/cages with thorough cleaning and sanitation protocols. Direct handling of animals (mainly dogs & cats) is required. Attendants also monitor animals daily and alert medical staff upon signs of illness or injury. Job will require attention to detail, physical activity, and regular lifting of items up to around 40lbs. Must be 18 years of age and able to work weekends.

The Pathways Coordinator at SJRAS plays a vital role in our lifesaving mission. The Pathways Coordinator manages lifesaving programs including foster care and transport initiatives, ensuring animals receive the appropriate support to progress from intake to adoption or transfer. Responsibilities include monitoring length of stay, addressing animals stalled in their progress, coordinating transport logistics, and maintaining records. The coordinator recruits and supports foster providers and collaborates with partner organizations, and manages after-hours foster emergencies. The role requires strong multitasking, animal handling skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Job Description:

Maintain and improve the mechanical operation of the building & grounds

Maintain an inventory of materials and supplies related to custodial operations and notify management as items need to be replenished

Maintain and improve the cleanliness, sanitation and safety of buildings and grounds

Work cooperatively with staff and groups, providing assistance in matters related to the shelter

Take emergency action necessary to respond to urgent situations and informs management

Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management

Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior in all shelter matters

Candidates should:

Possess a valid drivers license and clean driving record

Be comfortable working around different types of animals

Have some carpentry experience
